These websites tell about our common national treasure, Palokinkoski, partly slumbering under the reservoir and partly becoming forested as it dries up. The amount of history associated with the fate of the rapids over hundreds of years is enormous. Although the sites provide a fairly good picture of the nature of the free-flowing rapids and the life along the riverbanks, many details are still left undescribed.”

Heinäveden Muinaisseura ry (Heinävesi Ancient Society) was founded in the spring of 2018.
We gather and disseminate information about the ancient sites and culture of Heinävesi in general. We organize excursions, seminars, and exhibitions, and conduct independent survey work. We also maintain our own database of ancient sites in Heinävesi.
